Kshema's 7 Quick Takes Friday (Vol 04/2015)

--- 1 --- The week started with 66th Republic Day. The much awaited day when the US President graced the occasion as the chief guest and Indian women soldiers marched down Rajpath leading way; followed by Mann ki baat  by Obama and Modi on the All India Radio. Well, we too celebrated the 66th Republic Day, at office and also at the residential campus of our Institute. The celebration at our residential campus was in the form of a cultural program. I was a part of it by way of compering the program and also singing a couple of songs. Though it was a bit tiresome, I'm glad I did. Sometimes it is nice to tread off from routine and do something else. Ofcourse, the chilly winter weather did impact me, nevertheless, I bounced back soon. What I liked the most is the exhibition put up by our students, of their pictures and paintings, showcasing their skills in art. I totally loved it. And, I must appreciate the students for their musical skills too. What orchestral support!! I'

--- 1 --- Hello there. Strange that no body pointed out to me that I was writing a wrong volume number in my Friday Quick Takes, since beginning in this year! Well I have corrected them now, but what a nice way to know if people are serious about what I write and do they really take time to read!! Courtesy: Google Images --- 2 --- Now is the time to say "NO"! Courtesy: Google Images Have been in conflict with myself, over and over again, do not remember, for the past many many years. Do I blame the brought up or culture, my nature or my talent? I have never learnt to say "no" to anything that people ask me for. There may be many people out there who suffer my plight. "Live your life for you not for anyone else. Don’t let the fear of being judged, rejected or disliked stop you from being yourself " (Sonya Parker). Isn't it true? I ask myself. I have been brought up with the understanding that if I say "no" to people

--- 1 --- There's a disconnect between my mind and body. My mind wants to express and my hands do not cooperate. The week was not-so-good, though it was not particularly bad also. I haven't suffered any set backs, but still, something inside me dissatisfied....... with things, happenings, doers and circumstances; but surprisingly not with myself, which is not the case always. --- 2 --- Relevance While reading Mitch Albom's "The Time Keeper", towards the end of the novel, I found the flow of story very interesting that probed me to think of the relevance of the plethora of things we do in our lives. The novel is story about Father Time, an old wealthy man and a young girl, all of them unrelated to each other in time and space; each of their story runs parallely throughout. The old wealthy man who is terminal, strategizes to freeze his own body beyond time, so that he can turn alive in future when a sure shot cure is invented for his ailment. For this he

--- 1 --- Picking up strings from my last post in November 2013 and wrapping up 2014..... it has been an eventful year, I must say, both on personal and other-than-personal fronts. It was Diwali, when I last blogged. 2013 quickly got over with a great Diwali and Christmas time. I did suffer some bad health towards the end of the year, nevertheless, quickly recovered too. I must thank God for His mercies from time to time. In 2014, I worked hard in office and at home, not that I did not work hard before; but the rewards that your hard work pays you make you forget all the pain and bask in its pleasure. As an employee, a professional, and an individual the happiness of receiving an award and appreciation for your work, is immense, especially when you put in a lot of efforts and churn it with your creative juices. This award was followed by an opportunity to showcase my skills of documenting and anchoring, which were again, rewarding! Along side I could read, watch movies and sing

Welcome back!

Its been a really looong time that I wrote some thing. Perhaps more than a year. Anyhow, first and foremost, wish you all a very happy 2015!! The year 2014 has been an year of varying experiences. Some good and some not-so-good. One of my regrets is that I could not be as connected with friends as I was in 2013. Also, having realized that being away from my regular writing practice is something that is bothering me, I decided to get right back onto my blog. Voila! here we are, back on track, in a brand new year! Moving towards 2015, I reconnected with some of my college buddies, which is a happy thing, you would agree. I hope to be in regular touch with them now. My plans of as now are to keep the weekly posting continued, attempting to write on small chunks of life's experiences. So, the decision to get back to blogging brings me to indulging myself in a mixture of creative and relaxing activities....... can we call it a sort of de-stressing? I guess so! Stay tuned!
