My very first book!!

It has been quite some time that I have written anything. Today I was browsing through Flipkart.com, my personal favourite site for books and gadgets (lately). My very first book, a fall out from my Ph.D. thesis was listed there too!! I like that! Who would not? That makes it more easily available in India.

Well, I never planned to go global with my publication, but thanks to LAP Lambert for their proposal. The book was published in November 2010. Back then, I informed some of my knowns informally about that and it is also listed on globally most popular site Amazon.com. Whoa! What's more? It's on Barnes & Noble too!!

When I turn back and review the kind of time it was, from 2004 to 2009.........sigh! Many people around the world do research and I was not doing something extraordinary. Yet, I can say, it has been a very eventful and learning period. Not just academically but that period marked growth of a professional, a person, a human being! I met some very interesting people during that time, with a purpose related to my research work. But they left behind strong impressions on me, be it their personality, their traits, their humane side, their subject expertise or their mere smile that had a message of solace and comfort for me.

I take this opportunity and platform to express my gratitude to all of them. I consider each one of them nothing less than a teacher to me. Although I will keep remembering them often on one occasion or instance, I will surely remember all of them on Teachers' Day, The 5th of September every year and resolve to keep my learning spirit alive, always!!

Kshema's 7 Quick Takes Friday (Volume 05/2015)

And then Lord said, "Let there be week days"! --- 1 --- Manic Monday Hello Monday! Starting day of the week is usually the one filled with frenzy. You are the day when the "To Do" list that's written in the first morning hours is long; and the Inbox gets flooded too. Chase and get chased; and it runs into the other days of the week when the chase weakens by Wednesday and tries to pause by Friday, only to start afresh the next Monday. Home takes backseat. --- 2 --- Turn Up Tuesday Hey there Tuesday! Work craziness continues with growing number of rush hours, calls, clicking and clacking of keyboard and mouse, multiple windows of word processors, spreadsheets, and browsers strewn open across multiple systems. Programmers feverishly scripting away their ideas to meet the expectations of their principals amidst balancing the poking requests of a network of users.... silently cursing themselves and their days for they cannot satisfy all. The...

What went wrong?

It has been a few months that I bought this book - Essentialism by Greg McKeown . I found the book very realistic and baring the naked truth of my life in my face. But could not get even half way through it... as usual, got distracted with the non-essentials in my, after all, plain Jane life. I hate to say this but my life is mundanely simple. There are no excitements, no yahoo moments, not much of travel, no great social connect either. But I do have a bunch of good friends. Interestingly, I have picked up good friends in all walks of my life. I am neither a chatty kind nor a monk. And, am happy for the fact that my friends do not hate me. I do not offer opinions and advises, unless specifically asked for. Nor do I criticize anybody 'coz I do not know what the other person is/was caught up in. In a nutshell, I do not waste my energy on this stuff. And, I am meticulous in whatever work I am given to do. These are a few things that I am proud of. Well, coming back to the book in re...

Kshema's 7 Quick Takes Friday (Volume 10)

--- 1 --- Here I am this is me  There's no where else on Earth I'd rather be  Here I am it's just me and you  And tonight we make our dreams come true  It's a new world it's a new start  It's alive with the beating of young hearts  It's a new day it 's a new plan  I've been waiting for you  Here I am [Courtesy: Brian Adams]  Yes, yes.... new academic session begins and every student whether new or returning will sing these words to his course of studies. The campus is already bright with freshman and the gleaming sophomores, juniors and seniors. The transformation in their feelings and attitudes as the freshman gradually climbs the ladder to a sophomore and so on, is interesting to observe. The freshman batch is mostly enthused and a bit more self disciplined in their dressing and demeanor. As they enter the next two levels, there is an air of reluctance. While in the graduating year there appears a mutual feeling of attachment...
